My Doodle With Words

A doodle with words,
that's what I will do
I'll select them with care
the best ones for you

the start of your journey
there's hope and there's cheer
the journey back then
contentment, some fear

fulfillment, and pleasure
your massive white gloves
incubation, ventilation
addiction and love

uv lights, and oxygen
blindfolds, and teddy
determination, and fighting
we adored you already

tiny, so grateful,
happy, soft skin
excitement, commitment
family, begin.

Then carseat, your blanket,
swaddled, amazed,
precious and fragile
intensely we gazed

onto the next part
protection and care
this changed very quickly.
helpless, unfair

I need to add horror
to this part aswell
desperation, anxiety
scarred, can you tell?

mouth wash and frightened,
lost and alone.
Crying, broken,
phone contact with home

scared, and observing
heartbreak and pain
hurting, exhausted
your're fighting again :-(

then onto your travel
anguish, relief,
we needed Yorkhill
hopeful, belief

then into that ward
reassurance, so kind
questions and answers
going out of our minds

compassion, and gentle
handling you
music and memories
handprints there too.

Pleading and begging
tears, screaming cries
dignified treatments
that's what they tried

meetings, consultants
breaking, apart,
serious, surgery
to repair your heart

palative, loneliness
jags, drips and drugs
wishing and wanting,
suction, begging, and hugs

your journey it ended
our has begun
no words to describe 'now'
my doodle is done.
