We were given the 'kiss' of an angel

It arrived all wrapped up in blue

the gift was sent with love from above

the gift that they sent us was you.

We were given 'love' from that angel

we watched as he grew day by day

he fought but he smiled, he tried very hard

and his love is now with us to stay

We were given 'strength' from that angel

It made us protect you and care

we were your voice, we questioned it all

stayed by you each day, we were there

We were given 'hope' from that angel

we didn't know anything like this

you grew in my tum, I became mum

The time we had with you was bliss

We were given 'fear' from that angel

we begged, no more pain, no more tears

we took on your pain, to free you again,

but this trade meant you couldn't stay near

we were given 'heartbreak' from that angel

we know how shattered we feel

we miss you, our son, no battle is won

this pain in our souls, it is real

we were given 'grief' from that angel

we will miss you each day, that is true

we don't grieve for a stranger that we haven't met

the tears that we cry are for you

We are given all this from that angel

we're overwhelmed by love fear and grief
